2019-2020 Cohort of the iBSc in Pre-Hospital Medicine

In September 2019, our 6th Cohort of the Intercalated BSc in Pre-Hospital Medicine started the course. Who knows what this year will bring, but the air is filled with excitement and trepidation!

After a fun-filled induction for the new group, including a boat trip to Greenwich, Professor Dane Goodsman and Dr Rob Greenhalgh talk about the exciting plans for the year.

Then it is in at the 'deep end' with the lectures on toxicology and the iBSc in Pre-Hospital Medicine Recreational Drugs Symposium! Luckily, the students have excellent support from the team at London's Air Ambulance, the London Ambulance Service, the MET Police UK and of course Queen Mary University London - an amazing mix of knowledge and experience in one room!

The iBSc Alumni group is also on-hand to share its wisdom and experience with the current cohort, and past students often come back to present their own research as seen below.

A busy November lies in store for the iBSc cohort with clinical skills and Applied Sciences and some imaginative scenarios based around difficult extractions and suddenly deteriorating head injuries.

November 2019 is a busy time of year for our iBSc students and training is underway with London Ambulance Service's HART (Hazardous Area Response Team) at their base in West London. The students are pushed beyond their comfort zones and learn about Incident Response and Management assets with Command Support Team and Vehicle Training.
