Welcome to the Resuscitation Science Symposium 2019. The Institute of Pre-Hospital Care in partnership with Barts and the London School of Medicine, and Barts Health NHS Trust are delighted to deliver this symposium.
The two-day event will bring together an audience of those who practice resuscitation medicine on the front line. We will present a novel series of cases. Invited expert speakers will help us interrogate the fundamental science that underpins how we should respond to the challenges that these cases pose. The symposium will take us on a journey through dilemmas that have been faced by medical teams in the pre-hospital and emergency department phase of care. The principles will apply to anyone who has an interest in the management of cardiac arrest, whatever the background specialty or specialist interest.
The line-up of speakers is refreshing, bringing truly expert insights. Speakers have been chosen based on passion, experience, and ability to pass on something new to the audience. Attendees will have the opportunity to listen and absorb information or to interact with speakers, contributing further experience to the case discussions.
Against a backdrop of the magnificent Great Hall as St Bartholomew's Hospital, adjacent to the Barts Heart Centre, now the biggest cardiac centre in Europe, we hope to stimulate new ideas and novel ways of thinking about our patients.
For those who are involved in this exciting area of medicine, there is a desire to do more for our patients when they need our help the most. We hope that the symposium will prepare us for the future.
