Dr. Amy Hughes MBE
Senior Education Fellow
Amy is an Emergency Medicine and Pre-Hospital Care clinician and in the past has worked as a HEMS doctor at London's Air Ambulance and Kent Surrey Sussex Air Ambulance. She is a Clinical Academic Lecturer in Emergency Response at the HCRI at The University of Manchester and was awarded an MBE in December 2015 for services to humanitarian and emergency medicine. Amy is engaged heavily in the development of the UK International Emergency Trauma and Medical Register - established to draw together clinicians interested in responding as part of a medical/trauma team to sudden onset disasters and humanitarian emergencies. Her first hand experience includes missions with Médecins Sans Frontières to Sri Lanka and The Royal Flying Doctors in Australia.
Amy also holds a Diploma of Tropical Medicine and a European Masters Degree in Disaster Medicine. Her particular interests lie in improving the training and knowledge for health care professionals wishing to work in complex humanitarian environments.
We are honoured to have Amy join us as Senior Education Fellow at the Institute of Pre-Hospital Care, working with us to develop our Masters in Pre-Hospital Medicine.
